How We Get You More Calls That Turn Into Booked Work

Most businesses don't need more marketing. They need the leaks fixed. This page walks through the five places calls slip away, what we do about each one, and what it has done for named clients.

A normal week, and where the work slips away

Ask most owners how to get more calls for their business and they'll say "more ads" or "a better website". Sometimes that's right. More often, the calls are already coming. They just leak out before they turn into work. Here's what a normal week looks like for a lot of the owners we talk to.

  1. MondayYou pay a website for a job request. So did four other businesses. The customer books whoever called first, and it wasn't you.
  2. TuesdaySomeone nearby searches for exactly what you do. Three other names show up on the map. Yours doesn't, so you never hear about it.
  3. WednesdayYou're on a job when the phone rings. It goes to voicemail. The caller doesn't leave a message. They call the next name.
  4. ThursdayA caller asks for "just a ballpark", gets one, and disappears. Or you drive across town to quote someone who only wanted a number.
  5. FridayA happy customer promises to leave you a review. They mean it. They forget.
  6. SaturdayYour slow months are coming, and nobody from last year has heard from you since the work was done.
  7. SundayThe marketing report lands. Clicks, visits, a chart going up. Not one line about booked work.

Slipped away: work you already paid for

None of that is a disaster on its own. Add it up and it's a big share of the work you paid to bring in. Most of it isn't your fault, either. It's how job-request websites, and a lot of agencies, are set up to work.

Each of those leaks has a fix, and the five chapters below are how we fix them. You don't need all five on day one. Usually one or two cost more than the rest, and that's where we start.

Get found by the people who need you this week

Where it leaks. Referrals built your business. But referrals only reach people who already know someone who knows you. Everyone else grabs a phone and searches, or asks ChatGPT who to call. If you're not one of the first few names they see, you don't exist to them. That's when owners start buying shared job requests just to stay busy, and paying to race other businesses to the phone.

What we do about it

  • Your Google listing, done properly. The right categories, your real services, your hours, photos of your work, and answers to the questions people ask. Then we keep it fresh, so you show on the map in the towns you actually serve, not only the street your office is on.
  • A page for every service and every town. One page for each kind of work you sell and each area you drive to, written in the words your customers type.
  • Google ads aimed at the work you want. We shut off the searches that bring price shoppers and people looking for jobs, and spend on the ones that bring paying customers.
  • Facebook and Instagram ads that reach people in your area before they need you, so your name is familiar when they do.
  • Showing up in AI answers. More people now just ask, "Who's a reliable roofer near me?" We make sure ChatGPT and Google's AI answers can find the facts they need to name you.

Ads and the map work on different clocks. Ads can bring calls within weeks. The map and regular search take months, but they keep paying off long after the work is done. That's why the first ads and the first new pages go up in the same month, so you're not waiting on one to start the other.

What changes for you

The calls come from your own listing, your own website and your own ads, so they're yours alone. Nobody else gets the same caller, and nobody resells them. And if you ever stop working with us, the listing, the pages and the ad account stay with you.

You also stop depending on one source. When the map, regular search and ads all bring in calls, a quiet month in one of them doesn't empty your schedule.

A website that books work instead of just sitting there

Where it leaks. People who find you still check your website before they call. If it looks like every other site in your line of work (slow on a phone, stock photos, no prices, a contact form that asks for a name and nothing else), they treat you like everyone else. They shop on price. And the ones who do call often want a ballpark you can't give without seeing the job.

What we do about it

  • A fast site that reads well on a phone, because that's where people look when something needs fixing.
  • A page for every service, with honest price ranges where your work allows it, so people know roughly what they're in for before they pick up the phone.
  • Your real photos. Your work, your people, your place. Stock photos make you look like a stranger.
  • A booking or quote form that asks what you'd ask. What they need, a few photos, a budget, a timeline. The people who fill it in are serious. The ones who won't were never going to book.
  • Proof where people look for it. Your licences, certifications, warranties and reviews on every page we build, not buried on an "about" page.
  • Looked after once it's live. Hosting, speed and security are handled, so the site stays up and stays quick.

If your logo or your look needs work too, we do that as well. A business that looks put-together gets trusted faster.

What changes for you

Fewer calls from people who were never going to book, and more from people who already know your range and like what they saw. The ballpark shoppers drop off on their own, before you've spent an evening writing them a quote. And the people who do call already trust you a little, which makes the quote easier to win.

Wondering whether your website is costing you calls?

Bring it to the call and we'll go through it with you.

Book a call

Answer every call, even the one at 9 pm

Where it leaks. You can't answer the phone with your hands full: under a sink, up a ladder, or with a customer in front of you. Whoever calls in that moment usually doesn't leave a message. They hang up and try the next name. Every one of those is a call you already paid for, with your ads, your listing, or years of good work.

What we do about it

  • An AI receptionist that answers in your business name, day or night. It answers the common questions, books the appointment, and passes anything urgent straight to whoever's on call.
  • Missed-call text-back. If a call does slip through, the caller gets a text from your business right away, so they hear from you before they hear from anyone else.
  • Fast replies to website forms, so the person who filled one in at night isn't waiting until tomorrow afternoon.
  • One place for every call, text and form, on your phone. You or your office can see who's waiting, who's been answered, and who needs a call back.

What we don't do is hand your callers to a call centre reading a script about a business it has never heard of. The receptionist is set up with your services, your hours, your towns and the way you like things said.

What changes for you

The calls you paid for stop going to the business down the road. You stop playing phone tag at night. And the people who call after hours, often the ones with the most urgent problems, get an answer instead of a beep.

Turn finished work into reviews and the next booking

Where it leaks. Two things get left on the table after the work is done. The first is the review. Happy customers mean to leave one and don't, so a competitor with more recent five-star reviews gets the call, even when your work is better. The second is the next job. The customer who loved you last spring has forgotten your name by next spring, and your slow months stay slow.

What we do about it

  • A text after every finished job asking for a Google review, with a link that opens straight to the review box. One tap, and it's done.
  • Reminders before people need you again. The yearly check-up, the seasonal booking, the "it's been a year" note. For a dental office, it's bringing back patients who are due for a cleaning.
  • Early-booking offers for your slow months, sent to the people who already know and like you.
  • Every message sounds like you, names your business and has an easy way to opt out. We keep the paperwork, so you don't have to.

What changes for you

Reviews come in steadily, not in a burst whenever you remember to ask. Your slow season gets a little less slow, because the people who already trust you hear from you before they go looking. And every new review makes the next customer's choice easier. When someone compares three businesses on the map, how many reviews you have, and how recent they are, is often what decides who gets the call.

Know what works, and stop paying for what doesn't

Where it leaks. You pay for marketing every month and can't say for sure what it brings back. The report talks about clicks and visits. The agency says it's going well. Meanwhile you can't tell whether the customer you booked on Tuesday came from an ad, the map or your brother-in-law. So you either keep paying for something that may not work, or cut something that does.

What we do about it

  • Every ad gets its own phone number. When the phone rings, you know which ad made it ring. The same goes for your Google listing and your website.
  • Every call, text and form lands in one place, with where it came from attached.
  • You tell us which calls turned into work. It takes a few minutes, and it's the part most agencies never ask about.
  • One plain report each month: how many calls came in, how many turned into booked work, and what each booked job cost you.
  • We cut what doesn't book. The ads and searches that bring calls but not customers get switched off, and the money moves to the ones that do.

What changes for you

You stop guessing. You can look at one page and decide, with numbers you trust, whether to spend more, spend less or change course. If we're not earning our fee, you'll see that too. That's the point.

The report also shows the things that aren't ours to fix. If calls are coming in but not turning into work, you'll see that in black and white, and we'll talk about why: the price, the follow-up, or how the phone gets answered.

Three rules we don't break

  1. No markup on your ad spend. Your ad money goes from your account to Google or Meta, and every ad has its own phone number so you see what it brings in.
  2. Everything is yours. Website, Google listing, ad account, phone numbers and customer list are in your name from day one. We work month to month, and if you leave, it all goes with you.
  3. We count booked work, not clicks. If it didn't turn into a customer, it doesn't go in the results.

And one more thing we don't do: the calls we bring in are never shared with other businesses and never resold.

Questions about how we get you more calls

No. Most owners come to us with one or two leaks that cost far more than the others. Maybe nobody can find you, maybe the phones are the problem, maybe the website scares people off. We start where you're losing the most and add the rest when it makes sense. On the first call, we'll tell you which one we'd fix first.

Ads can start bringing calls in the first month. Showing up on the map and in regular search takes longer, think months rather than weeks, but it keeps working long after the work is done. How fast it goes for you depends on your area, your budget and how quickly you pick up. How we work shows the first three months step by step.

No. It's an AI that answers in your business name, the way you'd want your phone answered. It handles the common questions and the bookings, and anything it shouldn't handle goes straight to you or whoever's on call. You can hear it on a demo call before you decide. demo calls to come

Never. Everything we bring in comes from your own website, your own Google listing and your own ads. Nobody else sees those callers, and we don't sell them to anyone.

Our plans are $1,500, $3,000 or $5,000 a month, plus your ad budget. You pay the ad money to Google or Meta from your own account, and we don't mark it up. Which plan fits depends on how many towns you cover and how many calls you can take. See Marketing agency pricing.
